Social Media Graders - What do you Score?

This just a very brief blog post to touch on the topic of Social Media Graders. Firstly we'll tackle the notion of what is a social media grader and then give you some links so you can go explore and get yourself graded...

Well, in a nutshell social media graders are sites you can go to and input your username (or anyones username) to ascertain the "importance" of the social media account associated with the name. There are a variety of the sites like this out there for you to use all of which will yield different numerical results (as there is no standardised social media grading scale)but each might provide some insights into what you are doing well and what you could try to improve on.

Without going into detail about the sites here are some you can check out (in no particular order):
- facebook.grader.com
- twittergrader.com
- klout.com

And they should give you an idea of what social media graders are and what your score is.. At this moment in time I'd like to point you towards an interesting post by Peter Kim "Ego Trap - Social Media Ranking Tools" which discusses the validity of sites like the above and argues that they are nothing but ego traps...I think there could be some truth in his musings - how do you feel about it?

Also, it seems like great minds think alike as just recently the Social Media Examiner posted about a topic very similar to this with their Free Social Monitoring Tools post. They discuss 3 tools which you can use to monitor you name in the social media sphere..

And so, that's a wrap...Have you used Social Media Graders before? If so what one and care to divulge your score? Or, do you agree with Peter Kim and think that these graders are no more than ego traps? Leave a comment and let us know what you think...
